Help? - 06 MUSTANG SHUT DOWN ON HIGHWAY
I have a tech question here for you. You are driving on the highway and the cur completly shuts down, you have no brakes, no lights, nothing. Finally you are stopped (oh yeah by another car) - thank goodness you were in traffic going maybe 5 miles/hour. Ford says it is a faulty battery - could that really be the culprit? or is there more to the issue?
Why would you lose brakes too?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I thought there was a TSB for this but I can't find it now. I would take it to another dealership or demand that they look further into the problem.

So you're saying you had NO BRAKES? Or just no power brakes? Even without power brakes you should still easily be able to come to a stop..
"NO lights" at all?
If something killed not just the engine running but also all electrical power then it's either the battery OR a main connection to the battery..
Did the car eventually come back to life by itselfor did you have to get it towed to a garage?

No car completely shut off. No brakes nothing. I ended up rearing the car infront of me. thank goodness i wasn't moving too quickly since we are stuck in traffic.
The car would not turn back on. emergency lights did not turn on - nothing. n o crank sounds - completely dead. Had to get car towed to ford dealer. they then said it was a defective battery. could that really be it?

That's hard to believe "no brakes at all" [:@] the only way I could see that happening is if ALL your brake fluid suddenly drained out of your master cylinder, OR your brake pedal somehow got jammed..
..either of which has nothingto do with a complete loss of electrical power.. Did you car get hit by lightning or something? [&:]
And that TSB youmentionedis an ABS problem.. that can affect ABS operation but won't kill your whole braking system..
