Default Thinking about buying a 2001 Mustang GT, questions.

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be buying my first car soon and I've always been drawn to Mustangs over any other car. I recently found an ad for a 2001 Mustang GT that has been taken care of and suped up. The ad lists it at $6,000 OBO. There are plenty of pictures showing every angle of the car and I didn't see any dents/scratches on the interior/anything wrong with the interior. He claims that it's been stored in a heated garage for winters and rainy days. The thing that concerns me is that it lists it as a V6 and not a V8. I'd rather it be V6 because 1) My father wouldn't let me have a V8 for the first car. 2) The V6 would just be more gas efficient. So, I've emailed and left a voicemail for the owner asking about the V6/V8 confusion. I also just want to hear what feedback I can get about this car.
Some stats pretty much quoted from the main page.:

Mileage 78,510 Body Style Coupe Exterior Color Blue Interior Color White Engine 6 Cylinder Transmission Manual Drive Type 2 wheel drive Fuel Type Gasoline Doors Two Door [ul][*]Driver Air Bag[*]Anti-Lock Brakes[*]Air Conditioning[*]Cruise Control[*]CD Player[/ul] [ul][*]Passenger Air Bag[*]Rear Window Defroster[*]AM/FM Stereo Cassette[*]Leather Seats[*]Power Door Locks[/ul] [ul][*]Power Steering[*]Power Seats[*]Side Air Bag[*]Sunroof/Moonroof[*]Tilt Wheel[/ul]2001 mustang gt. It is a 5spd. with 78,510 pampered miles. It has a twilight blue mettalic ext. two tone grey leather int. It is a 2 owner vehicle and has been kept in a heated garage for winters and rainy days. This car functions as new and is in superb condition. This mustang is loaded with all options including the 6 disc mach460 sound system. This car also has some tasteful upgrades that include the following: 1. roush stage2 body kit with fiberglass ram air hood. 2.pro 5.0 short throw shifter. 3. ford racing springs (lowered 2 inches). 4.m&m upper/lower contol arms. 5.fresh 8.8 rear with 3:73 ford racing gears. 6.rear girdle cover. 7.bbk ceramic coated long tube headers. 8.bbk x-pipe w/cats. 9.borla cat-back exhaust. 10.shift light w/msd contoler. 11.custom dual tune chip. 12.accufab 75mm tb w/1" spacer. 13.k&n cold air intake. 14.projector headlights. 15.tyc taillights. 16.chrome radiator support. 17)billet shorty antenna. 18.chrome letter and side scoop inserts. 19.18x9/18x10 chrome gt 500 wheels. 20)265/35/18 & 285/35/18 falken f452 tires.(stock wheels/tires included) 21.speed cal.

Thanks much in advance for any input on the car in general/the v6/v8 confusion.

says 8.8 rear and thats in the V8 but.... it says fresh so maybe he swapped the rear end and its a V6.... odd... but it also has a borla cat back and they dont make one for the 6 so im going to say its a V8 lets see if im right lol

I can only hope you're wrong because of the fact that my dad won't let me own a v8, only a v6 for this first car. :\ Thanks much for the input though.

Sorry bud, but by the look of that engine bay pic, its a V8. you could just tell your dad its a six..."accidentally" buy it, then be like "OMGWFTGTFO"

Unfortunattly we'd bring it to a garage to cehck it up before buying it so they'd pretty much tell him it's a v8 :P. Just out of curiosity... Cost to buy a V6 Engine/have it replace that one...? *Laughs*

cost would be not worth it though after labor and everything + all the aftermarket parts would be no good so they would be waisted. just look for a used6 i bet you can find a nice one for even less

Yeah I looked at the Borla website and the only v6 they'd have is for the 2001 Ford Mustang (And the v8 version for the GT) So.... Maybe he listed it wrong and it's really just a v6 meant to look like a v8...? WIshful thinking :\
