Advice on 460 swap into a 91'
I have come across a free 460 w/ c6 and I am entertaining the idea of eventually dropping in my 91 Notch. I rode in a 89 hatch with a 460 in it a few years ago and I believe thats as close as I have came to crapping my pants since I was 2 years old. Anyway , I could be dropping 450 hp / 500lbs, without breaking a sweat if i built that 460 even mildly and way cheaper than i can do it with my 302. My question is , exactly how hard is it do perform this swap assuming I have bought a kit with the motor mounts , headers and oil pan? I have heard there are going to be issues with firewall clearance as far as the bellhousing is concerned, also clearance issues with the master cylinder, and I guess I will be needing to do suspension work as well. Also what about a driveshaft? Custom i am guessing. i guess my overall question can be summed up as How hard is it going to be assuming i have all the swap parts together.

450 hp? try more like 500 easily!!!!!! i was gonna do the swap, but found out i was very short on money. i bet you could find a site on the swap. i have heard about master cylinder clearance issues and know for a fact that you will need new oil pan/headers/hood/mounts. you might need a new crossmember for the C6 as well, but im not sure.

Well I had thought about doing a 351w combo of some sort, but I got this setup free and it actually only has about 20k miles on it. I just figured it would be a pretty fun swap condisering how few big block Foxbodies I've seen before, and i live in hardcore Mustang country. There are 3 Performance shops within 15 miles of me dedicated to Mustangs, and there were 4 until recently. In the last 4-5 years I've only seen 3 460 Mustangs and they were all badass. I'de just like the cheap (almost free) power, and the ability to reply " Oh , it's just a 460" whenever someone asks what got in it, and watch their confused expressions.

Which is lighter the 460 or the OHC 4.6?

So yup, a 7.5 weighs a ton more than a 4.6

No they aren't CJ heads unfortunately. But they are the D0VE castings. If i end up going with the 460 I'll get them ported. I guess the only thing I am worried about right now is the suspension. Because yes, they are scary big and they weight about as much as a geo metro lol. Hood clearance isn't an issue and neither are the headers and pan. Another question I have ( which may sound stupid btw) is wether the motor mounts are going to bolt right up to the stock location or if I have to move them and re-weld them.
