1991 5.0 convertible speaker wiring ???s
My husband is trying to swap out the stock speakers in the dash and rear side panels in our 91 convertible - we're currently caught up in our own version of Pimp My Ride combined with something like an episode of OCC... Car show is Saturday - interior of car is in floor and deck lid and spoiler were painted wrong shade of grey.
All that aside, our new obsession is changing out the speakers.
We cannot find color codes for hot, ground, etc, and the dash wiring is different than the rear wiring, and the rear wiring is different from the door wiring... none of the three are the same.
Frustration is high. They say if you can survive building a house and not be divorced, you're doing good.
No one warned us about customizing a car. *EG*
Does anyone know where I can find Ford wiring diagrams for that year model car? I've had no luck by surfing. Alternatively, does anyone actually know which color is what?
Emails directly to me are welcome as I will be at work today and unable to check the forums until the lunch hour: Mirablackthorne@yahoo.com

If your car has the "premium sound system" or whatever they called it that year, then there's probably an amp(s) somewhere between the head unit & the speakers & that might be why the wire colors at the speaker doesn't match the wire color at the deck.
Usually with most speaker wires there is a solid color & a solid/striped color wire. The solid/striped wire is usually the ground.
I think so long as you wire all the speakers using the same methodology it'll work fine. Umm,, are the factory speakers 4 ohm or 2?

Iiii couldn't tell ya on the ohms. I'm guessing 4, but we just yanked them and tossed them. We replaced them with Polk Audios. And at one time it must have had the premium system - we found an extra wiring harness under the old carpet, and we were mystified as to what it went too. It was suggested at the time, and after many coldbeers, that it might have once had an amp...
I can't find much as to the history on the car - its a 7 Up edition and apparently has a lot of extras/ upgrades the normal LX 5.0 convertibles didn't have.
