I brought my Stang in to FORD to get my fuel filter changed. That went smoothly.

They then told me that the air filter needs to be cleaned on my K&N cold air intake. Ford told me that I need my air filter cleaned (I have the cleaning kit for it) for $85. Is it just me?...or is that a little ridiculous! Since we are on the topic, how ofter should I clean it?

The people don't work for free. That sounds about right for the time involved. And clean it often enough that it stays clean and doesn't get jammed up with dirt.

I clean mine every couple oil changes. It depends on your area, if you have a lot of dust/dirt ect. Its pretty clean where Im at, and I never go on dirt roads or anything so I get a lot of time out of it

If it looks dirty, i'll clean mine. It gets especially filthy right where the shaker boot meets the airbox.

Just buy a $12 recharge kit if it's dirty.

The Recharge kit costs $15 tops from any auto store. (Autozone, Canadian Tire).

Takes a whole 20 min total and you can do other things between certain steps.

Don't give it to the dealership, that's just supporting their ridiculous prices.
