MECHANICAL SECONDARIES
I have an 800 cfm Holley with mechanical secondaries. Is this a good carb to run on the street on my 429 Ford?
Is there an advantage or disadvantage of the mechanical as opposed to the vacuum secondaries?

VACUUM CARBS ARE MORE STREET FRIENDLY AND LITTLE MORE FUEL EFFICIENT, THOUGH WITH A 429 THAT DOESN'T MUCH MATTER! THE MECHANICAL WILL OPEN THE FOUR BARRELS UP MUCH QUICKER,NOT HAVING TO RELY ON VACUUM. USUALLY MECHANICALS ARE STRICTLY USED AS PERFORMANCE CARBS BUT I ACTUALLY RUN A 600 MECHANICAL DOUBLE PUMPER ON THE STREET FINE, I DONT DRIVE IT EVERY DAY, BUT IT DOES REALLY WELL WHEN TUNED RIGHT.

800dp..naw..a 700dp would would great or even a 650 dp with a stub stack and some tweaking....with my 427 nova I run a 700dp on the street and if I race I throw on a 850dp..and if a go to the track I tune it up and use a 1050 dominator

Depends on cam size, compression, rpm's, port and polish work, If your close to stock it's going to be too much carb, you need to run really small jets in it to try compensate.

If your runnig 15:1, roller cam and spining 7500 RMP it's too small, depends on the total package, that a big mistake people alway make, you need to look at everything
