2001 Mustang Engine Swap V6 to Cobra
Hey all! This is my first post, so I'm gunna make it good. I'm wondering how worth it (other than having V8 power <G>) it is to do an engine swap for a 2001 mustang V6 to Cobra? Would I be limited to only using the '01 cobra engine or could I get away with using an '03 or '04 if I could find one? Would I need to update the suspension right away to have a nice ride?
I found one site with parts details on what I'd need and stuff. I'd be doing the whole thing myself, so I'd at least save on the labor cost of having such a swap done. Oh, and, would there be any parts I'd be able to use out of the V6 as well? Thanks! |

Fortes parts connection in burington mass has a 01 cobra motor on the floor with everything, including the wiring for 5,000.00 this motor has everything you need other than a computer. As far as the v6 parts I dont think theres much you can use:D

5K is a great price for a complete engine. Your not going to be able to re-use anything off that V-6. Don't forget you'll need a new tranny and complete exhaust, which I'm sure you are already aware of, but still adds another 1500-2000 to the cost.
Good luck and let us know how it comes out! |

I'd say it's not worth it...you'd need the entire power train for starters not just the engine. The suspension and brakes would also have to be upgraded.
