oil and antifreeze leak
hey, i have a 1989 mustang lx 5.0. it had 7000 km on a rebuilt motor, after its warmed up and sits in my driveway it there is a little oil leak spot. the rear of the oil pan is usually wet after this. cud this be tha rear main seal? if not what do i have to do to fix it? its not leaking considerabley enuf to make tha oil level on tha dipstick go down yet. oil pressure is still fine. also the water pump has a leak from it, after its warm up it drips, tha antifreeze level in tha resovior goes down quite abit after each drive. wud this jus be tha water pump gasket, if not what is it?

RE: oil and antifreeze leak
im wondering about the same thing. people ive talk to said 5.0's are notorious for having problems with the rear main seal. i think thats my problem. smells like burning rubber smell. i was told when i got it inspected that its getting onto my exhaust. so im trying to fix it asap.

RE: oil and antifreeze leak
yeah im not even sure haha im a 15 y/o kid, its my first car. i bought it from a younger mechanic, who used it a project car for his mechanics course. i took off tha water pump today n found out that tha gasket isn't any good so ill replace that n it shud fix that leak, but i'm still wondering if its tha rear main seal or tha oil pan gasket but my oil isnt leakin enuf that its going onto tha pipes.
