Angry Why the heck is my battery light on??

This is my second post here. my first one wasnt very successful so im hoping i can get at least one response this go around. LOL. recently my battery light came on. So, i took my 96 msutang v6 to autozone to get my alternator and battery tested. Alternator came out ok, but i needed a new battery. So i bought one of the duralast batteries and the light went out...for about ten minutes. then it popped right back on. So i went back to autozone to check the alternator once more. But the thing is getting well over 14 amps or volts...or watever they said. But the light is still on. They said it isnt either the battery or alternator. if it isnt one of those, wat the heck is it?? If you think you can help, please respond. Thanks.

+1 on cleaning the terminals and checking the cables.

i had a similar problem on my other Stang, when youre checking the cables and cleaning the terminals, leave the battery disconnected (and leave it off for about 20-30 minutes). that should clear the code for the light if the cables were bad (since you said the light went off and then came back on). i did that on my 98 after going through pretty much the exact same thing, and the light never came back on.

Check the fuse, I had the same problem, went out and purchased a new alternator, after install light stayed on, discovered later it was the fuse. 20 amp I think. Anyway it couldnt hurt.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their responses. I never really figured out what the problem was. the light just turned off one day and hasnt come on since. hopefully it'll remain that way.
