How does more HP make you go faster?
#12
Well I understand how changing the gears work and how gear ratios work but I just don't get how if we get 2 identical cars and upgrade only one heavily, what will be the difference int the two if we floor both of it? wouldn't the more powerful one just run through the RPM gauge faster

Well yes, but not because it actually revs faster but because the extra hp and torque allow the engine to overcome the weight of the car more easily and accelerate that weight more quickly. Weight is a big factor. I alway like to think of sportbikes as an example, they only have 100-150 hp but are very light hence why even the slow ones can usually run 12s or faster stock.
