Default My car or 03 cobra

I have been debating whether to keep my car or go to a 03 cobra. I may have an opportunity to trade for a 03 vert, but im not completely sure if i want to. I love the looks of my car, but have been missing having a cobra since i sold my 01. I have my GT looking almost exactly how i want(prefer it to a 03 cobra cosmetically). Reasons for switching to a cobra would mainly be for the power and to have a convertable.
I would just supercharge my GT, but then i would have to worry about building the block, transmission, clutch, rearend, etc. My goal is around 500rwhp. Problem is, it seems like a somewhat decent amount of cobras end up blowing up with under 50k miles and if it does this within the next 2-3 years i would be totally screwed.

So, to sum it all up. Save up(could be 2 years) and supercharge my car or trade for a 03 cobra and almost be at my goal and have a vert. The car is also my daily driver.I know it is up to me in the end, but want to see what other say.

dammm....your car looks very nice so its a tough decision...IMHO...i wouldnt trade it for a vert, you are trading it because powerwise, an accident in a vert is not a pretty sight.

You have a much nicer car than a 03 cobra, alot of people want to switch b/c they think its faster/better - its not really, you still have to mod it - about the same expense to mod w/ the car upgrade as it would be to just mod the GT, but with the GT youll get alot more performance for your money

thanks!if i were to trade it would ONLY be for a vert. the power is not enough. i mean it is a huge factor, but it would be for both if i were to do it.

the reason it is so tough is that i do like my car and the market for it is quite large(turbo, saleen, whipple, KB, procharger, etc.)

You have a SWEET car there. I don't know if you subscribe to muscle mustang fast fords magazine but if you don't.
Dec. 2008 issue,
Page 120... Brothers in Arms. They took the '03 Cobra, '05 Gt and a Shelby Gt 500 and bolted on a Kenne Bell huffing 20 psi of boost.
Naturally the '03 and the Gt 500 had forged crank, rods and pistons so they had to do the same with the fragile Gt engine.

The '03 Terminator made 702hp @ 6700rpms
578tq @ 4900roms

The '05 and up Gt made 704hp @6500rpms
607tq @4700rpms

The Gt 500 made 756hp @6200rpms
684tq @4800rpms
If it were me, I'd upgrade my block and make just as much if not more Hp/Tq than what the cobra could do. Besides, you have all that work already done to your car, I mean it looks really nice. I wish I owned it.

I seen a 07 Mustang Gt make 490 rwhp with a vortech 8 psi ( I was told it was the owner of AmericanMuscle, tuned by Eric Swarr )
8 psi of boost on a New Mustang will smoke stock '03/'04 Cobra's..

I think you're much better off keeping the GT which is beautiful BTW.

With the cobra you're going to have to worry about mechanical issues, with the GT you're 100% aware of the history... Chances are the cobra has been dogged so i think you're better off keeping what you have.

cobras are slow pieces of ****, especially verts.
if you want replies post in off topic, or 4.6 general section, most people never post in this section.
