What would handle more boost? 5.0 or 4.6
Ive always liked mustangs and back when I was yound did lots of research so I know a little.
I want to buy a base model GT so its cheap and I can build it up. I always liked foxbodys but I will take what I can find at a good price. Now with completely stock longblocks what would take more boost?
I want to run a supercharger on e85 so octane is not an issue. How much boost can the stock head gaskets handle, or pistons rods. Dont the 5.0's have stock forged pistons?

I'd say it depends on the 5.0 and 4.6....I ran 19#'s of Vortech boost into my stock block 1991 GT, 625hp, no problems...just go with a 4 bolt main! ...as for the 4.6, the 4v 03/04Cobra's can support upwards of 1000hp with a TT set-up from what I have read!

The 5.0 will support more boost stock vs. stock, but that means absolutely nothing. If you have a horrible flowing engine & you're running high boost it's the same as a not as bad of a flowing engine with less boost. If you're wanting to make quite a bit of power on a budget, honestly I would recommend some 4.6's over the 5.0. If you're wanting to make 300-high 400's I would recommend the 5.0. Over that 4.6.
Depends on what 5.0 & what 4.6. I favor the 5.0 over the 4.6 most of the times due to availability at salvage yards when they break & how fast I can take one apart. Neither are hard to work with, i just find the 4.6 more time consuming on some things & the 5.0 more so in some areas. Do you mind using junkyard parts if something breaks or do you buy all new parts? That question generally determines what route I go with most of my turbo, s/c kits, & the air/fuel management.
