I agree. Dont max out your budget. Besides having "what in case" money, I'm sure (like every stang owner) you'll want to customize your car to your liking a little bit.
As for which car to buy. Just check it out before you buy it. If your not much of a mechanic (and sometimes even if you are) its worth it to have one you trust check it out.
4.6 motors are strong motors so you cant go wrong there. And I agree with the other posts in that you should look for a Cobra. It'll have more than enough power to start out. Respond very well to mods (should you be interested later on) and they have a good resale value.
