Looking for help with Engine swap

Hey guys,

I'm looking for someone that has done an engine swap from a 3.8L V6 to a 5.4L. I don't really know what I need to get (wiring harnesses, etc) for the swap to work.

I have several shops around my area that will do the swap, I just need to get everything they need.

Thanks a lot for the help.

What year V6? I assume it's a built 5.4L V8?

1997 V6

The 5.4L is not built; I don't have the engine yet.

the k-member has to be modified for the 5.4 to fit properly, such as with the Cobra R K-member. Look up all the parts on the R and it has everything you need.

I'm doing the same thing with a '00 v6. I plan on using '03-04 cobra heads (which I have and are about $1K on eBay) with an intake from an Ausi Falcon Boss 260 (just waiting for it to arrive). I plan on using a tubular K-member and a harness from a '03-04 Mach 1. There are two styles of '03 cobra heads, ones with only 4 spark plug threads and later '03-04 with 9; you'll want the ones with nine. I have mostly used Google to find info about the swap.

Most of the companies that make K-members also do them for engine swaps. When I get closer to doing the swap I plan on calling one of the companies, I have not decided on which one to go with, and getting info on what they offer in pre-built or custom made.

You will also be told that it will/is cheaper to do a 4.6, this is not true. The hard choice to make is whether you go 2v or 4v. I chose the 4v route as the price for ported 2v heads is about the same as 4v, and the TFS heads are $2K. I plan on using a low mile long or short block that is in good condition, and doing a piston and ring swap for about 10.5:1 compression.

If anyone would like to chime in, yes I know that if I get a 2v/3v block I will have to get all the correct timing equipment for the dohc.
