What's the difference?

What's the difference between Automatic and Manual Transmission fluid? And can damage be caused by putting auto fluid in a manual and vice versa?

No one knows?

our trannies take ATF....

It depends on the transmission. Mustang manuals have been using automatic fluid for years.

Basically automatics MUST use automatic transmission fluid. Even within automatic transmission fluids there are many different kinds.

Manuals can pretty much drink anything but ATF is best.

I put syncromesh in my T5 and it didn't seem to like it much...

What did it do?

Well i was getting a lil zip in 3rd so i tried it. Could be coincidence but after the synrcomesh the trans just started getting really notchy... after switching back to ATF i swear it's getting better, but we'll see.

I was just curious because I'm about to put some Amsoil ATF in my manual T-5 because it says that any Mercon V fluid application is compatible with it. I hope it doesn't phuck it up.

you should have a t45, not a t5. (even though they are basically the same.)
