Default Least expensive way to get a 2nd key + remote for '07 Mustang?

I need to replace a missing 2nd key + remote for my '07 Mustang. My wife did it for our Expedition, and the dealer charged her $100, and that didn't even include a remote to go with it. Ridiculous. For a key. I know it's a PATS chipped key, but still. You can buy them online for $24, and it takes less than 10 min to program, am I right?

So, I'd like to get a complete programmed 2nd key and new remote as a spare for my Mustang, and want to spend as little as possible. What's the best route to take?

Thank you for your guidance. I appreciate it very much.

You might be able to get an aftermarket/used remote cheaper than Ford, but the KEY is gonna cost you! As far as I know the factory is the only source for those

look up independent lock places in the phone book. I went to a small place and they charged me $80 for 2 keys and I was there to make sure they worked perfectly.

Found a couple of very inexpensive options online, but the key programming is the challenge because I only have one. The dealer's going to charge me too much.

Just ordered a set from ikeyless.com, will take it to the dealer and try to get the key programmed inexpensively as possible.

it pays a tech one hour to program a key, so i can only assume you'll pay for one labor hour. so like $90

definitely doesnt take an hour to program a key, i used to see them do it all the time.

at any rate buy an uncut key and fob off ebay, have the dealership cut/program the key and you can do the fob yourself. that would probably be the cheapest way.

As Deathproof stated find a key/lock dealer in the phone book. They may have the Pats key blank, the key fob, remote and have the capability to program it for much less than the dealership. You might also check e-bay for key blanks and remotes and have key/lock dealer program them for you. I've used both methods here where I live.

yeah very true, but if you know better you could probably grind them down on the price a little.
