P/S Pulley wont go on...
Long story short, I rebuilt the top half of my brother's 98 F-150 4.2 V6. And now I'm down to putting the P/S pulley on and the Autozone loaner kit I borrowed to put it back on did not work all the way. I threaded the bolt into the shaft of the P/S pump and the pulley has an 1/8 left to go, upon some tightening, the pulley kit bolt strips out of the shaft.
The inside thread of the shaft is fine, I took a thread chaser to it, no damage. But the bolt threads from the kit, was shreded clean off about the length of an inch.
I am out of ideas, it has an 1/8 inch or so to go. I don't want to hammer it, due to wanting it to go on straight and not wanting to damage the P/S.
Please guys, it's not a Mustang, but a Ford none-the-less.
Thank you,
Phil

first- make sure the pulley is going back on right, if they are one backwards (ive done i ) it'll go most the way on but you'll be f*cked. did u lube up the pulley? makes life easier.
if its on correctly, get another kit from autozone tell them that ones jacked up.
finally, if all else fails take the whole b*tch to a machine shop, they can press it on in literally seconds. but then remember next time if the pulley has to come off, hes needs a whole pump lol

I had an idea but wanted to run it by you guys first:\
What if I put the pulley in the oven for a few minutes and placed a bag of ice over the P/S shaft, then try to put it back on? Wouldn't hurt anything would it?
I mean, we all know what happens to metal as it's cooled and heated.
