Default Have you ever heard of anyone rebuilding clutches?

I just had someone tell me that there is a place in Nashville that rebuilds clutches for tractors and high HP cars. I thought this guy was crazy because I have never heard of any such thing before. So I google the business name and gave them a call. The man I talked to said they build custom clutch disc, fix pressure plates and reuse the housings. He said he does a lot of tractor and drag cars and it would hold better than ever before. Also he said it would only cost me $150 so hell I about willing to get it a try for that price. What do you guys think?

It's common for the old 3 finger Borg and Beck style clutches. Resurface the pressure plate or replace and check the springs for tension. Replace or reuse or mix new and used for a given pressure.

They can also reline the disc.

The nice thing about this is the rebuilder can make you exactly what you want but I'm not sure if they can do our diaphram style clutches though.
