Default 99 Mustang GT

I didn't know where to put this, so I thought I would just post it here. I was talking to a lady that I work with and her son is over seas for the army. Well he owns a 99 Mustang GT and told her to sell it. Well she was asking 7000 for it. Well I was joking with her and said if she dropped it to 6000 I would buy it, well she said she would ask her son and said that she could probably get it down to that or maybe 6500. Well all I know about it so far it that it's a white GT 5 speed with about 65000 miles and she said that he put a new exhaust system on the car before he left and he paid about 500 dollars for it.
Well my first question is what should I look for when I check out the car. I mean are there anything about the 99 GT's that I should be looking for when I drive it. Anything that might be a problem with the 99 models. I drive a 00 V6 and I know all the problems I have been having with my car that's why I am selling it once those problems are fixed. And from what kelly blue book is telling me it's worth about 6500, so I think I might ask 7000 for it. But any info about the 99 GT's would be appreciated, I don't know much about them, so if there is anything you all can tell me to look for, I would be happy to hear it.

Thanks
Mike

just make sure to do the usual used car check...

all electronics, lights, brakes, you konw the general

as far as problems,, i know that the 99's did quite well as far as reliability in all the magazine tests and such

someone more technical might be able to tell you about tranny info and the like,,

but i would say offering 6500 hundred sounds like a good deal to me, i paid about 9500 last fall for a similar car with about 15K less miles, i think its a deal too even if its 7even

good luck

I love my 99 GT!!!
They were one of the most reliable years according to consumer reports. The only thing i heard was that they had problems with the clutch or throwout bearing or something.

Other than that, its a mint car.

i would ask about how it was maintained. That would be most important to me. Check the A/C, turn signals, etc.

Good Luck!!!
