Installing 3.73's / t-lok... Advice!?
I recently saw an advertisement on CL for a shop in Fall Rivers that specializes in Mustang customization / performance installs. I called the guy up and he said that he could provide and install Motive 3.73's for $400 flat, with tax.
Now seeing as the gears are about $180 to begin with (not to mention AM is sold out), I believe this is a really good deal. Here's my concern though: How do I know what kind of work this guy will do? I shot him an email asking him if he could provide names/numbers of people who've used him before, but besides this, I have no idea what kind of work he will do. How the hell do I know if he even puts the gears in? (Silly question I know, I should be able to feel the difference... but still it bothers me.)
Should I write up some sort of formal contract specifying what work this guy will do? He seems alright but you can never be to sure.
Thanks in advance!

I would ask if they have a warranty on there work, like if there is a whine can you bring your car back and they fix the problem for FREE. You'll know the gears are in if the car feels faster and the speedometer is off.

Depending on what gearing you had before- the low end acceleration will vary. However, you will feel a difference. Like he/she said, your speedometer, odometer, shift points (elec. AT) and ABS will be affected.
Be sure that the shop will warranty their work, and GET YOUR OLD PARTS BACK. If he doesn't set up the backlash and run-out correctly- it will whine.
