serpentine belts????
I NEED SOME HELP! I HAVE A 1989 5.0 I HAVE DUMPED $5000 IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS IN AND I AM A LITTLE FRUSTRATED. I AM TRYING TO BYPASS THE AC COMPRESSOR BUT EVERY BELT I BUY IS EITHER TOO LONG OR TOO SHORT. AN 875 GOES ON STOCK W/ AC, AN 845 WITHOUT AC BUT WHEN THEY LOOK ON THE COMPUTER IT SHOES AN 845 AS COMING FROM THE MANUFACTURER WITHOUT AC, NOT TRYING TO BYPASS THE COMPRESSOR. HOW CAN I JERRY RIG THIS? AN 854 WAS REAL CLOSE AND I GOT IT ON BUT ONCE I STARTED THE ENGINE AND CUT IT OFF, THE BELT HAD STRETCHED AND WAS TOUCHING. MY DAD WANTS TO DRILL A HOLE IN THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE TENSION PULLEY TO LIFT IT A LITTLE. ANYONE KNOW A BETTER IDEA? PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. OH, AND DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT SHORTAGES IN THE 5.0'S? I PUT ON NEW HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS AND LAST NIGHT MY LEFT HEADLIGHT CAME OUT THE BRACKET AND MELTED THE ASSEMBLY AND NOW MY FOGLIGHTS AR OUT. AFTER $5000. YEAH, I'M A LITTLE PISSED. BUT $3000 WENT TO THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. HELP ME WITH BYPASSING THE AC COMPRESSOR AND ANY SHORTS THE CAR MAY HAVE. THANKS, ROBERT.
