Default Removing hood heat shield thingy

i was under the hood the either day and im going to remove my hood heat shield thing on the under side of the hood i see that there is some type of ground wire attached to it on back passenger side. im wondering if i can just remove this or should i bolt it to another ground point?

not sure how it is on the cobras, but on my 94 gt, that wire was to power the light under the hood. i dont think it would be an actual ground because the hood is fiberglass and you cant really ground stuff to fiberglass.

and just so you know, it might not be the best idea to remove the heat shield. you might start having paint issues down the road. im not 100% sure though.

ya ive heard that but also heard that people take it off with no problem aftermarket hoods dont have them so i figure it would be fine the only reason i want to take it off is because my belt broke (out of nowhere, not neglect) and ripped up part of the mat

I dont think you will have any paint issues. LIke you say, most aftermarkets dont have them.
