Guys, Please be careful!
Man, that's just ridiculous. What kind of parent buys their kid a busa for their first bike THEN lets them ride off on it without a license.
Buy the kid a 250, and he still woulda wrecked, but at least it wouldn't have been at 120, they top out at 105

I'm curious as to where at in NC this happened....i'm in Raleigh.
I also want to make a note that I find that most bike riders are the most responsible drivers on the road of everybody. However there ARE some people...usually sportbikes who drive like absolute maniacs and I wish and pray that the next move they make sends them flying.....because some are truely harassing everybody on the road with the eratic driving they do.

I see this **** all the time and if you are that stupid to hop on one and do 100+ then you deserve it. Sorry. That would be like never driving in a car then getting a ferrari and going to the Autobahn. I have seen more wrecks and close calls then I care to. Part of me wants to see them wipe when they are weaving in and out of traffic and all of a sudden their rear tire starts to wiggle on them, suddenly they are about to loose control. Of course, you go down in the middle of a busy interstate, you are dead. I see at least 3 good bike wrecks a summer. I have nothing against motorcycles, just some of the idiots that ride them. I talked about this one in another thread, but one guy died the other night about a 1/2 mile up the road, was going 100+ and t-boned a van. At that point they are cleaning you up with a shovel and then using a firehouse to wash the remains off the road.
Just use good sense when you ride. kthxbai.

There was one around the block from my house, on the highway, drunk rider, weaving in and out of traffic. Ended up going up the curb and coming back down and leaving various parts of his face/brain (half helmet) in the middle of the highway where two state routes combine into one. Don't know if any cars hit him or not, but he came down and it was game over. Buddy of mine was in the firetruck that got to do the spray down.
I saw 4 bike accidents in the course of 2 months while working in the hospital. Broken leg, broken arm, broken arm and shoulder and one was just a bit of road rash. The three with broken bones were doing stunts, wheelies/stoppies and ended up with their bike landing on them. The only true accident of the group was the guy with the road rash. It started to rain and he was trying to get home before it got too bad. Guy in front of him slammed on the brakes hard for no apparent reason and he had to lay down the bike to aviod hitting him.
Call me an *******, but I don't feel bad for these people. I don't feel bad for people who get injured, paralized or die as a result of a street racing accident or doing something really dumb in a car/truck or on a bike. You know better and if you don't, you don't belong on the road. How many times one of these ******** has taken another life while theirs was spared. It's sickening.
/end rant
I had to see something I never wanted to see today. I Saw a 18 yr old wreck a motorcycle at around 120mph. I was at my uncles house, the kid rode up and down the street 3 times, when he rode the 4th time, he went around the slight turn he went to the edge of the road, panicked, and jerked the bike back over, hide the ditch, and flew out into my uncles field. It was a bad sight....the motorcycle needless to say, was in a million pieces across the field the kid was throw way out into the middle of the field, and was messed up pretty bad. His family was there in a few minute, the live just down the road, It was his 18th birthday, he had never rode a bike before, and it was his birthday present. When I saw him fly like that, I just knew he was dead....he didn't have his motorcycle license, he didn't know how to handle the bike, and was going way to fast for any road! I'm still scared. Fortunately he was still breathing when the ambulance showed up, both of his arms and legs were broken, he knocked out half of his teeth, he didn't know where he was, and probably has multiple internal injuries. So please guys, keep the racing at the track. I do not want any one of you to end up like this, it can happen to anyone, no matter how much experience you have, in a car or on a bike...just be careful.
And yet another tool becoming a statistic that my GF tries to use against me when I talk about getting a bike.
First, I know better then to throttle up like that, more so in a place with so many variables.
Second, I would Get a HD over a sports bike. I'll be just as tempted to throttle up like that, but I love my life enough to know better.
I know that if/when I get a bike I WILL fall. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. And I know there's a million jackasses in cars that will some how, even with loud *** pipes, manage not to see me. But, once I have my kids and they are grown, I'll take my chances.
You only live once. Emjoy it, but enjoy it while using your head.

I have to start by saying that I love bikes of all kinds and have nothing against anyone who rides responsibly. Unfortunately, there aren't many people who can do that, and it's the idiots that give bikes a bad name. The people in shorts and flip flops with no shirts or helmets...ugh! The only thing I think should be optional is a jacket. At least wear a full faced helmet and give your family the option of an open casket. As for this kid...a 'Busa?! For your kid?! No one needs that bike period. As much as the kid was at fault, I believe his parents are really the ones to blame. Anyway, I hope this kid is alright and that he never forgets this.
