Default setting up a 72 with 04 wheels

hello everyone,

i recently purchased a 72 mustang project and i was looking to put a set of 18x7.5 or 8 inch wheels. the car is drums around and they work flawlessly, i am not looking to upgrade to disc anytime soon b/c i dont have gobs of h.p. and it will be primarily just a cruiser, also it is 5 lug. the suspension is stock leafs in the rear and has stock upper and lower arms up front with 1 inch lowering springs. I know i need a spacer kit for the wheels to fit right, but what i dont know is how big they must be (1,1.5, 2 inch?) what else do i need to do for these wheels to fit right without rubbing or any problems? if someone could help with this answer it would be much appreciated!

thanks, Mike

18's on a classic Stang... are you nukkin futz?

I guess some people have different ideas about what looks good on which car, but,,, larger diameter rims on a late model Stang/other might look OK. But geez dude DON'T put freakin wagon wheels on an early classic Stang. Older Stangs need visible rubber to look "right", 15 maybe 16" rims is MAX for a '71 -'73. IMHO

well 17's on them look very good, and i agree with you im not trying to make it look crazy or like a hoopty, but i like the "foose" style of a low stance with nice wheels. ill probably lean more towards 17's but 18's on the back might be the way i go as well. the wheel wells on the 72 seem to look pretty large so i thought they might fit well while still being able to put some rubber on it. but b/c of my budget ill probably go with 17's, like the bullet wheels, because you can pick them up cheap and they have the classic 5 spoke look. but thats why i opened this post, to get suggestion and to see what might work, and still look mean.

heres a link to show 17's on the 72 mustang
