I wouldn't spend a dime hopping up your 4 banger if within a year you're planning to swap it out for an 8.. makes no sense.

If you're keeping the same car why don't you spend your $'s modding the body or wheels/suspension or interior instead??

yea do wheels, appearance that you want now and then do the engine swap next yr, with the v8, you will also need some suspension work... i would do mods that i could keep after the swap.

you do know that you have to swap more than just the motor when you convert, right?

there is a ton of stuff to do and you could already start with some of it. you obvioiusly can't do electronics yet (computer, wiring harness) but you could already start with the driveline.

drop in a v-8 t-5 and an 8.8 with your gear of choice. start upgrading the cooling system too.

the easiest way to do all this is to find a donor car thats been wrecked.

i doubt you'll find a wrecked cobra.

like i said before just start swapping stuff over before you drop the motor in next summer.
