Need help identifying what year Mustang this is
 

I am looking at a Mustang right now that i am interested in buying the guy says its a 88 but, based off of the pic, it has, i think, 86 taillights. could you guys help me out?

if you get the VIN i can help you find out for sure what year it is, those are definitly 86 taillights though

i'll try to get that. would putting up a pic of the front of the car help at all? because im pretty sure it has the right front clip for a 88, but i know that you can change that pretty easily...

ya that can be changed pretty easily, what did he say about the taillights?

i asked him if he was sure it was a 88 because it had the 86 taillights and i'm waiting for a response from him. i'm really hoping its a 88 because its a pretty good deal and my neighbor, who has been a mechanic for pretty much his whole life and owns a couple foxbodies, said that the 88-93 engines were the best engines for the foxbodies.

I think its a 87 and higher couple.

its definitely a coupe the thing thats throwing me off though is the 86 taillights because he said in his posting that it is a 88. i emailed him asking for the vin number so i can run that to figure out what year it is.

the guy sent me the vin number and it is in fact a 88. now i'm excited!
