Exclamation HELP! SELLING MY 1971 351 CLEVELAND

wanting to sell my cleveland, BUT I HAVE NO CLUE HOW MUCH ITS WORTH??? got this cleveland in my 78 ford, wanting to go bigger c.i. it ran great, now needs a head gasket, which i am going to do as soon as it warms up a little bit, or i find a garage. has a little blow by, could use a rebuild. has 4b heads, offenhauser intake, 650 cfm edelbrock carb, mild cam, long tube headers, brand new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. would make an awesome motor, has huge potential. looking for 429/460? trades?

does anyone have any idea how much this thing is worth?? i tried looking all over the internet for prices of other clevelands, but have been unfortunate. ANY information would help, thanks in advance!

this is the wrong section to be trying to sell or trade your motor. please post it in the right section, the Mustang Classifieds! this section is for tech questions and isn't for soliciting of sales. please reread the forums rules if you have any questions about this.

as for what its worth maybe $200-$2000 depending how much you put into the rebuild on the motor. if you try to just sell it don't expect much at all for an old used motor. I picked up a motor with the tranny from an early 70's F150 with 60k miles for my dad's 61' fairlane for only $300

ide say around 500 bucks maybe. You probably are better off selling it before even fixing anything, as people who look for those sorts of engines ussually are planning on beefing it up themselvs anyways. Just be sure to list the problem while selling it so you dont have angry people coming to your door at night lol.

well i would change it but for some reason it wont let me start a new thread in classifieds, this is a 1971 351 Cleveland, from a 1971 Mustang Mach 1, it is worth more than $500, had a guy offer me $900 when i first had bought the truck but i needed to keep the motor in the truck to move it around. for someone that has a 71 mach 1 that wants to make original, this is a perfect opportunity, it's not a windsor, modified, but a true Cleveland.

Selling anything has more to do with what the buyer is willing to spend than what YOU think it is worth.
If you want to try and push the mach 1 lineage than post an ad in hemmings motor news.
Restorers are more likely to troll there looking for "numbers matching" stuff

Default call me

thread

I am interested in buying your 1971 cleveland call me at 252-646-2484
thanks, here is my e-mail address also larryrws@embarqmail.com
It sounds like you are repairing and not replacing but if you do I have a 1971 mustang that does not have the correct engine in it and would like to have the correct block. I do not care about the rest of the engine.

hey larry, so i pulled the heads off and am now in the process of putting it back together (warmed up a little bit). i checked the heads they are NOT 4v they are 2v heads, and the block casting number is D0AE-L and the date code is 1A5, made on January 5th 1971. i am located in canada, british columbia. here are some more pics of the motor as i pulled it apart. and the valve covers and heads are getting painted next week, classic ford blue.
