Help did I change my 5.0 HO over to carb correctly
 

I have owned many Mustangs within the time frame of this forum and I have some questions about wether I did everything correct changing over my 5.0 HO motor to a carb motor.

I know there is much in the old posts about this but I wanted to post what I did and see if anyone out there knows of anything I forgot about before I blow my toy up.

I was given a 5.0 HO motor with EFI. I pulled the EFI intake off and replaced it with a 302 intake off a 1987 Ford truck it was set up for a carb. I cleaned everything and used all new gaskets. I plugged all the extra vacuum lines. I installed a Motorcraft carb out of a 1973 F250. I did away with the EGR by making a plate and installing a gasket to seal it. I placed the large vacuum line from the front of the riser plate to the tube coming off my oil filler neck. I plugged all but one vacuum line for now except one I ran to my distributor. I found a 302 points distributor at an engine rebuilder and found it fit well and mated with the oil pump. It has a steel gear of the proper size. I installed a new cap, rotor and wires. I already found in old threads that the firing order is different than older 302 motors and that helped. I have the engine mated up to a 1975 C4 transmission. It has rained for a week here and work has been crazy so I got around to firing it up today. I am running it on minimal wiring for the moment just my wires to coil, distributor, battery and solenoid only. I used a jumper wire to start it for a moment on starter fluid but that is all. It fired up I am going to hook up an electric fuel pump this week (will I need a regulator?) I know this is an eccentric mix of parts but I only have $150 dollars into the project and it works for the application.
Do any of you with more experience than me feel that I missed anything that I need to do before getting onto other vehicle issues

your carb only uses 7-8 pounds of fuel pressure. make sure that is all your pump is putting out or get a regulator. good luck

put on a regulator regardless

This is small potatoes but I would vent the crankcase upstream of the carb. Or, replace the valve covers and use a standard breather. If I am understanding your post, with the hose attached where it is on the riser, that is introducing air into the fuel/air mix which is essentially a vacuum leak. I am hazy on where you attached the tube so this post may be wrong.
