I now realize this is for your son. Personally I'd restrain from either choice and buy a bigger, slower, safer vehicle until you are confident he is able to show responsiblity.

As for the V6, forget about it. I hate all v6 Mustangs. I'm a passenger in a V6 Mustang every second day. Yuk. If you must have a slower, small tire, sounds like ***, single exhaust tip car. Buy a full size sedan.

Default respect

Thanks again

I'm not used to getting such good advice from forums lol

I especially like the teaching him to respect the car and handling the extremes.

When I got my first car my parents just cut me loose with it.

He gets it Friday

I have had a V6 mustang and a GT and they were both of those body styles. my 07 GT is addictive. I wont ever go back to a V6. But then again, the new 4.0 V6's are pushing more power than the old ones and are decent. I would say go with the GT just because the V8 is a lot more fun and the GT styling looks so sick

When i was 16 my first car was a camaro SS ls1, if your son is responsible enough to stay out of trouble then i would definitely go with the GT. Either way, you cant go wrong. Best of luck!

Id get him under the car to change the oil. Pull the belts off and have him put them on. Fully detail the car after about two weeks. Like others have said, get him to respect the car. Show him what $7k is all about. Then take him for a test drive in a 74 pinto wagon that is primer brown. He wont mess up again, I'm just sayin.
