My '98 Gt Idle Air Sensor went bad and it would cause the car to stumble and stall when started. Usually when cold. The Ford guys checked it by tapping it with a tiny hammer. I guess it wasn't opening all the way or something....just a thought. I don't have many thoughts so I try to use them as they float to the top....please don't waste it.

Unplug the TPS sensor on the side of the throttle body(right were the tube goes into the intake) and see if it changes anything,if the car doesnt change at all the sensor might be bad

If its a V6 then its naturally rough at idle.

Also check into your IAC (Idle Air controll) it govers the air/fuel going into your engine at idle and governs idle speed (RPMS)

good luck

As for the location of the IAC I think that it should be mounted on your TB somewhere and look kinda round with a couple wires coming out, its different for the years, mine is way different. Some are even remote and dont touch the TB at all.
