Can you get a (manual) trans for the 99-04 GT with a 0.50 ratio, or close, in the last gear? What would such a monster cost? (Mostly interstate driving)

Why don't you stick a six speed in it?

throw a T-56 in there

Simplest solution would be to switch to a taller rear gear ratio.
