Cobra T-45 Swap

Here's the deal I have 96 GT with a 97 Cobra motor and I'm in the process of putting a T-45 out of a 98 Cobra into the car. ( I guess I have a MUTTSTANG not a MUSTANG). It appears Ford moved the trans mount back a couple of inches and now I can't bolt my transmission to the crossmember on the car. Anybody have any suggestions. Here is what I can come up with

1. drill out spot welds on crossmember and move it back a couple of inches[:'(]
2. make a bracket so I can bolt the trans to the crossmember where it sits now

any better ideas? I have attached a picture so you know what I'm talking about

Isnt there two bolts that the mounts for the crossmember that hold it to the frame rails??On my friends 96 cobra we took those bolts off and redrilled two hole farther back and bolted them back in and it worked perfect. The total job took an hour.Could you take a picture of the mounts on the side instead of the middle of the crossmember than I can give you a definate answer but I'm almost positive it will work

I see the holes you are talking about but my bracket is spot welded in. Is there a bracket I can get and bolt it right there? I also took a picture like you asked.

Thats weird my friends was bolted in not welded.I dont think thats going to be to easy to move back,is there a way you could bolt a plate to the old spot and let it stick out towards the tranny and them bolt the tranny to that?I wonder why my friends was bolted in.....Maybe cause it was a saleen cobra??We just removed the bolts drilled new holes and it worked mint.Your can definatly cant be moved very easy

Edit-Maybe what 94 said would work??The t-45 crossmember could be different I'm still boggeled why my friends unbolted but yours doesnt........[&:]

I didnt think it would be an easy move. That is my plan if no one comes up with any good suggestions is to put a pice of steel running to the trans bolt from the crossmember. Correct me If I'm wrong but ther is not alot of strees in the area the main function of the crossmember is to keep the transmission and the driveshaft at a good angle.

I will look into the different crossmember. I'm trying ot figure out why Ford would move the mounting location It would make more sense if the Trans were 2 different sizes but they are identical except for this one spot.

The only force is up when you stomp on it so if you use a piece of 1/4 plate it should be fine.Ever have a bad tranny mount and it smashes the floor when you stomp on it,thats the only way it can move,up
