2011 Mustang Door Lower Sheet Metal Seam
Was checking out my new 2011 Mustang and noticed the lower sheet metal door seams are not fully crimped. Was wondering if this is good or bad. I"ve had many fords (2004 Focus, 1999 Villager) rot out in this area with fully crimped seams. Wonder if this is a new idea to prevent corrosion by adding less stress to the metal or discouraging water from holding through capillary action? The drain holes from the door are right above the trough formed by the incomplete crimp so it looks to me like a water collection point. I was thinkng of filling the seam with silicon caulking but don't want to screw up one of Ford's "better ideas" if in fact that's what it is. Anyone else have this peculiar characteristic on their Mustang and know if its good or bad?
