Hey all, I am a total newbie to the forum and would appreciate any advice on this problem. I recently acquired a 1995 Cobra svt v-8, blown, aftermarket ignition pack, etc... completely modded out. The previous owner had it built put less than fifty miles on it before it got away from him and did minor body damage but nothing too serious. Realizing he was outmatched by the vehicle it has been sitting ever sense. That's where I come in. I purchased as is and all is well except I believe I have bad fuel. Can anyone give me any advice on purging the fuel lines and draining the tank.

I have become fairly familiar with the fuel system and am no mechanical rookie, but no wiz kid either so any and all advice welcome..

Reason I think bad fuel is most likely is car cranks fine if I use carb cleaner, and I have fuel into the rails so I'm thinking injector prob, or bad fuel I hope

You could just siphon it out. That would probably be the fastest way. Just an idea, but since it's been sitting, it most likely has some moisture in the gas. Have you tried adding a bottle of dry gas?

I'd push down on the rear a few times to get it stirred in a bit and let it sit for a good 15-20min. Don't forget also that you're gonna have to get through whats already in the lines so if it doesn't help right away, that would be normal...Keep crankin.

Well I used the water remover but no luck, I made sure to shake car well. Also I drained a significant amount of fuel through the lines and I don't even get a rumble. I pulled a plug and thought that it might be wet but too close to call.

I have plenty of fuel to rails and when I spray carb cleaner into throttle body it starts briefly. I am starting to think I have a prob. with injectors you don't know how to check if there firing or not? I have a multi meter

You can check the resistance across the injector terminals (with car off)but I really couldn't tell you off hand what the spec should be for them. You could test them all and see which are different than the others though which may help. But it may be a non electrical issue. They could be dumping too much fuel also, not just not enough. If you can't tell if the injectors are clicking, you can get a test light, disconnect the injector and test each lead. (With light plugged in crank motor and it should flash)

There is a tool for testing injectors but I have no idea if your local auto parts place would have it. Worth a few phone calls anyways. as a last resort if you can't get it figured out I'd just go ahead and replace the injectors as well as plugs. But get the cheapest you can find, just in case neither is the issue after all.

Actually, I'm stupid lol. Pick up a cheap ODB-II code reader. They're like 40-50 bucks. See what codes it's throwing.
