Convince a 2002 Z28 owner to become a mustang guy

btw thanks for the responces guys but I just think I cant get past the ls1 power. I would just be taking a loss by going to a stang. Like I said maybe when spring rolls around ill trade off my 1993 S10 Blazer "W code enhanced" 4.3 vortec push button 4x4. etc. Freshly rebuilt tranny. for a fox 5.0 turn that into a mean dd.

kinda sucks how you cant delete your posts on this forum...anyways did a little research and im not interested in that 81 z28. The first year for emissions dropping the hp to 170? thats awful! Thanks anyways

I don't think its the power its just that you already have the Z28 kind of pointless to move to something so close in year to what you already have. On top of that you got the high end camaro. Z28 was the answer to the Cobra anyway. That 81 does not need to met emission anymore due to its age. I betting a 350CID is under that hood.

I was a Camero guy too. In fact I'm all around GM guy and own a Buick and a Tahoe. Then I drove both the Camero and the Mustang. The Mustang was fun, the Camero wasn't. The Camero is a diva, the mustang isn't. The Mustang has a much better quality interior.
I'll admit raw power wasn't my main criteria, a fun ride was.
Drive them both with an open mind.....
(I've owned two Cameros.)

the z28 was not the high end camaro first off, the SS was. had a better suspension package and such. z28 is the baseline v8 camaro. neither were "the answer" to the cobra the motor upgrades were because if anything, the SS should be the "cobra answer". GM was just always proactive about making huge strides in the amount of horsepower increases that came on their cars. 280 or whatever in 97 to 350 or a tad higher in all ls1 motors in 1998. the z28, SS, corvette, formula firebird, trans am, and WS6 are all basically idental HP wise, some just had better suspension and there is like a 10-15hp difference with the SS/WS6 over the z28/TA IIRC, because they put a better intake on it with the ram air (the ram air itself not adding the power, the intake did). and with the firebirds and camaros, companies like mecham and SLP did performance packages to them which not only gave them much better suspension, but more power too (i think 390 hp). SLP did the firehawk on the formula, and mecham did the z29.

Now back in the day as I racall the Z28 was the tops, and again in 2012 it will take it's rightful place as the top trim level, however in the 90's and early 2000's they were second in line.
BTW yes that 81 is a 350sbc. However it was the first year GM put electronic engine management for emmisions(oxygen sensor, tps, maf sensor, etc) and being only for emmisions the power suffered horribly...170hp. No joke.
Wasn't the cobra svt's answer to the vette?? haha that went well.

and what do you mean by the Camaro is a diva and the mustang is not? Elaborate on this please.
also. I don't care much for the sn-95 interior...I do like the gauges but I really didnt like spilling my drink on the test drive when I shifted into second because the cup holder was within travel of the gear shift.

Nope the Cobra was SVT's answer to the Camaro SS and the WS6 TransAm. The 03-04 Cobra posted quicker stock 1/4 mile times than the C5. Still though the main competiton for the SVT Cobra was the SS and the WS6.
