Everytime i turn my a/c on my car stalls and sometimes dies. I haven't tried anything to fix it yet because i wanted to find out exactly what it was before i start tearing stuff apart. The engines runs fine when its off but as soon as i turn it on it starts running terrible. its a 92 5.0 and the a/c worked fine when i got it. If anybody has had the same problem let me now because its hot as hell in texas

Have you had anyA/C work done on the car? And overcharged A/C system puts a hell of a load on the engine.

no but i will get my system checked to see if that might be it.

Thats not the problem if no ones worked on it. When you turn on the A/C the computer is soupose to hold the rpm steady as the A/C copressor loads up. When you turn the A/C do the Rpms drop and then come back up? Are do the rmps stay low the wholw time A/C is on? Could be a Vaccum leak or carbon build up causeing a slow responce to load at low RPM's

Are you sure the compressor isnt seized??The car should automaticly idle a little higher with the ac on

Edit: the car will run fine without the ac on because the clutch on the ac doesnt engage till you turn on the ac and then it will try to turn the compressor and willl stall out if its siezed

Ther is a sensor on the hi side of the AC. When the compressor turn on this sensor send a signal to the computor to increase the idle. If luck is on your side the connector came off or you have corrosion. If not you'll have to replace the sensor.

Sounds like a problem with the Vacuum advance to me.

Good info. I've had a compressor seize and everytime I tried turning on the AC it would stall out.

it could be the IAC too...(idle air charge).........cuz mines bad, and when i turn my a/c on, the car wants to die, so, it could be that, unless youre not gettin a check engine light.....if youre not gettin a check engine light, then its NOT the iac.
