Crankshaft Seal

Crankshaft Seal
I took my 2003 mustang to a dealership garage for an oil change, when I went to pick up the keys a mechanic told me he found a few things I needed to have fixed. He stated that I need a new exhaust manifold, as well as a front and rear crankshaft seal. He stated I had a pretty good leak and needed to get those done as soon as I could. I have never noticed a puddle in the garage floor or anything, plus I keep tabs on my oil level and it has only been a touch low once or twice. Each time I just blamed it on the mechanic I was using to change my oil not putting enough in. The times I have topped off it has been a few ounces.
I am by no means knowledgeable with mechanics, but I am getting a 2nd opinion from another garage before having anything done. My question is, just how criticle is a cracked exhaust manifold and leaky crankshaft seals? I am a poor college student so the $1100 bill is kind of a big deal. If they need fixed I will fix them, it just may take me a couple of months to save up the cash.
