Default Mustang advice, older vs. newer

Hi folks, new here. Have the Mustang itch but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Here is what i am trying to figure out. So i have been considering buying a used Mustang say like 05 to 07 GT. I see one listed locally a 2006 Roush Stage 2 with 30,000 miles for $19,600, looks real nice. However, i cannot help but notice the new model GT's with the 5.0 putting out 412 HP. I don't know how much power the Roush would have, say low 300 hp??
So are the newer models, leaps and bounds better than the 06 as far as power and performance? Who can give me some advice on this.

I want a car to use as a daily driver, but would occasionally get out to a few track days at the local raceway. I am not looking to bolt on a bunch of mods as i would prefer to keep things pretty stock. Thanks for your help.

welcome!

imo, if you want something more ready to compete right out of the box, go with the new 5.0... the brakes, engine, and suspension are great. don't get me wrong tho, if you grabbed the roush, and made another 10k in mods... it would probably as good or better for the same price on the track, but it might not be nearly as good as a daily driver after those mods... the new car is just great!

Welcome

My .02:
-The Roush is more exclusive and should hold it's value a little better
-I like the body style of the '05-'09s better

But...
-Can't argue with the performance of the 5.0
-The '11 has the nicer interior and newer technology

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either decision, barring the cars are in good shape. Keep us updated and hope to see you around. Good luck!

I agree with Alec, you can't go wrong either way, although it would be nice to try one of those new 5.0's.

Welcome to the forum. If you are not looking to do several mods, you can't beat the 5.0. It will probably make a better daily driver too.
