Tri Y vs. Long Tube

Tri Y vs. Long Tube
Just bought a 66 coupe with a mild warm over on the engine[289 w/ 8k miles on the rebuild] Edelbrock 600 cfm carb.,, performer intake.mild cam and stock exhaust header running through a h -pipe,Flowmater 40 mufflers. I want to put on headers for around the $300 mark[my budget]. I have read other forums that say go with a Tri-Y especially with the H-pipe. This picks up up better low end performance and easier to install from what I read. I have always used long tube headers on other cars I had years ago.Any personal thoughts on one vs. the other? This car is used for street use only, but I want to feel it has something under the hood when I punch it.

LT's will make more top end power, tri-y's will make more low and and mid range. Good tri-y's will make decent top end, but not as much as LT's, and generally have better ground clearance. I have tri-y's on mine.
That said, you're looking at $600 for a good set of coated headers that will fit well and have good ground clearance and performance, tri-y, LT, whatever. I'm using Dougs.
