Default Cost of a conv. top replacement?

I really need a new top for my 95 convertible but I am not sure how much this will run. I will be getting money from my excess loans from college and I was planning on using that money to replace it but it's not going to be much. How much do they usually run with labor costs? Also, does any mechanic shop do this or do I have to find a specific shop to do this?

Thanks in advance!

My 94 rag top is mess-up. The rear glass has separated from the canvas.

I called around upostery shops and they quote me around $800 bucks for parts and labor.

For that money I rather spend a little more and buy the factory fiberglass hardtop with will last indefinetly compaired to a rag top.

Yeah, my glass is separated in spots, too. I tried to use caulking to temporarily repair it but it didn't work well. I also have a few tears that are leaking water into the car.

$800! That's steep! Better start saving up before winter somes and it snows inside my car!

The hardtops....how do you store those when you have them off? I love the ragtop because it can be put back anytime and replaced anytime but if I can't have a hardtop in the trunk in case it starts raining than I don't know if it is the thing for me.

We went to upholstery shops around town and were quoted from around $600+ depending on what you want to have done. We just needed the top exterior replaced and was quoted $600 and that does not include the section with the rear window.

I just got mine replaced about a couple of years ago. What I did was buy a top off a convertible top dealer from ebay. There is an upholstry shop around here that put it on for almost 300.00. 2 years later and still looks brand new.

There is a shop around here (Colorado) that can do it for $495.00, top included.
