Trickle Charger - Batt in car
#2
I've been using a battery tender on my installed battery (89 5.0) for well over a year now and have had no trouble. For extra safety I leave the hood popped and a towel rolled up on the upper tie bar to make sure no chance of contact.

Battery tender is your best bet. I have them for my bikes and jetski and they are always connected unless I'm using them. They are only charging at a few amps so you can even close your hood if you want without problems. They will shut off (light goes green) when you have a full charge so it won't harm the battery. I have a dual BT charger and a single to do the job.
