cleaning block
 

I pulled thje engine out of my fox and its all dissasembled. someone told me to use oven cleaner to clean the block. will this work well? any other suggestions?

yeah id think it wud, easy off oven cleaner is unreal, tha **** in a yellow can eats anything away, after doing it tho id clean it a whole bunch of times after it eats all tha **** off, you might have to do sum scraping tho

Get cleaner made just for that. They make it. Go to your local auto store and pick it up. It's on hell of a degreaser.

Ahh just send the block out to be cleaned and dipped and all that good ****.

Gunk make sa product called "engine brite" its an awesome degreaser but it smells like diesel fuel lol, so only use it outdoors.

Just use Simple Green without diluting it, doesn't smell as bad as engine degreaser but works just as well. Also won't hurt any plastic parts that may be on the block or wires.

how much do ya think if i send it out to be done? they will oil everthing to so it dosnt flash rust wont they?

The oiling you can do with a any light lubricant but if you're worried about rust as well, you should take it in. They can sandblast the exterior of the block to get rid of any rust and locate any pits in the block.

im bringing the block in next week. 90.00 to clean magnaflux and inspect the block. figure i cant go wrong!
