Tire question's

hey all,
im putting new tires on my stang this month, im wondering if someone can tell me what the differences are in the handling characteristics between a 245 and 275 tire on the front, im putting 275/40's on the rear, also if there would be any clearence issues, rubbing issues or fitment issues on the stock 2000 gt 17" rim with a 275 tire. (im lowered about an inch and a half).

someone correct me if im wrong, but i do not believe a 275 will stick out from the fenderwell. i would rather not have them stick out.

im going with the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S. (this will hopefully be her last winter leaving the garage :) ) i have read alot of good things about them, never used them before. if anyone has some real world input on these that would be great.

Thanks Much!

I'll be getting tires and rims too soon. I'm dumping my stock 17x8" rims and going with 18x10.5" in the back, and 18x9 in the front. This way I could put the bigger meats on and make the car look a lot more kick ass.

Im still deciding on tires...

Im thinking
245/40/18 - BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW - Front
275/40/18 - BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW - Rear

If they are spaced correctly, they won't protrude out. The Nero tire you want isn't a very performance oriented tire. Don't expect very good dry performance. You will get an all around ok tire for the wet and dry, but it won't be great in either condition. They will last pretty long, which would be the biggest reason why you would buy this tire.

^^^ dernit, beat me to another post! [8D] Offset (spacing) will dictate whether or not that size will stick out from the side of the car.

315s didnt fit on my car or my friends but we both have Saleen rims and they rubbed the quad shocks very badly

275s are going to be horrible in the snow...the wider they are the worse they are so if your buying them for winteer I would get narrower tires because your buying M&S tires so width is useless if you want M&S.I wouldnt put 275s on the front either cause they have to sink threw snow to get grip and wide tires ride on top which will handle horrible. For best winter driving I would get 225s on the front and 245 MAX on the back, but either way they will be horrible in the snow
