96 Hood won't open
 

Has anyone with a 94-98 had an issue with opening their hood? I've had my 96 GT for almost a year and it was always a PITA to pop the hood. I didn't have any issues with my 97 V6.

I smoked my headlights yesterday with plans to install, went to open the hood and nothing happened. Tried again and nothing happened. I've heard that the cable can lose tension as well as come unhooked but I can't tell if either has happened. I assume that if it came unhooked the hood release would just come out when pulled.

Anyone have suggestions/fixes that don't involve going to a dealership?
