I am getting a custom dyno tune on Sept 16 and am also swapping the supercharger pully to get more boost. I am trying to get an idea of what most people think should be the maximum boost I can safely put out without hurting my otherwise stock 4.6L 3v engine.

4.6 block was designed to take 500 horses. However, pistions are ****ty. Thus you must go with manufacturer's recomendations, otherwise you find out when you blow stuff up.

Also, match your boost with proper fuel pressure. If it goes lean you will kill your engine pretty fast.

The shop doing the dyno tune on Friday will configure everything including air/fuel curves with the new pully on...I just need to make sure I get the right size pulley that will accomodate a proper amount of boost that will not hurt stock internals.

Well, you're into serious business here. Along side with the engine's power there is transmission that must take that power and the rear end, and your body. If body is not strengthened properly you may bend it and your car will never launch straight. But for the engine, keep it under 500 horses, you should be somewhat fine.

you should have no problem at all with 10 pounds of boost. Are you intercooled?

That 500 HP limit is not bad advice with the stock internals.

Well, I ended up going from 3.8" pulley to 3.6". Vortech says that should put me at right about 10.5# boost. I am Non-Intercooled.
