Default Dark Smoked Headligh Output.

for those whove ever wondered how much the output of the headlights are affected by using the smoked lens headlights, or have debated getting them.

just thought id share these with ya.

testing light source:
5k D2S HID bulb
Fx-R projector
Ebay HID ballast

Camera:HTC EVO cell phone.
White Balance Auto
ISO:100

The Headlights in question.

Clear lens

Smoked Lens

Granted, these are HID bulbs, but i could only imagine using the factory halogen bulbs.

Just thought id say.

Indeed, The light output with the DARK smoked lenses are horrible.. I also had to get rid of my dark smoked headlights after only having them on for 4 days because I got pulled over twice because the copper said they are to dark and illegal equipment..

Pain in the *** cops..!!

Yea, they have less smoked ones, but the dark smoke look ****. Just blow at night.I prefer clear lens, blacked out inside trim pieces.

I like the factory smoked lens with clear corners look.

agreed that smoked lenses look cooler but certainly do not help anything at night. The only way I could drive with mine was with the driving lights left unsmoked and that was just a minimum smoke since I did it myself. I went with a black surounded projector which increased the output huge and still kept the overall look dark.

I like every light on a car smoked except for headlights. And the fact that you're running those crazy bright HIDs and that's as bright as the smoked ones could get? Eff that man. I'm sure they look sweet on the car though!

The first pic is of the smoked lenses used.

The OEM lights in 01-04 had a clear lens, but blacked bezel. Kinda like the one pictured last.
