2012 Mustang V6 vs. 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T

A couple of guys at my high school are bragging about their cars and which is faster. Now, I know quite a bit about a mustangs but I don't know anything about dodges other than they got a hemi.
So too clear this all up. One kid that is 18 has a 2012 V6 with a K&N cold air intake and thats it. The other kid that is 17 has a stock Dodge Challenger R/T. So who would win in a race?
Give me an answer so I can shut these guys up!!!
And no they will not race until I tell them which car is faster. weird eh??

I'd have to go with challenger on this one. Is it auto or std?

Both of the cars are automatic.

I'm sure mustang is lighter, but I'm sure the challenger will out-accelerate the sixxer.

From a roll or a dig?
In a roll I would say the mustang.
In a dig the challenger will get the jump and I say at the 1/4 mile line it would be close.

And I would have said the opposite really.. The power to weight ratio of the challenger is slightly better than the V6 Mustang.. I think in a roll it will pull away slightly.. In a dig, it would be really close. The weight of the Mustang helps to grab, but the torque of the Challenger would be a strong competitor..

My money would be on the Challenger..

^+1, comes down to who hooks better with the stock tires.

I dunno if the mustang will get any distance on the chally off the line with those crappy 2.73 gears. But that fat ass chally probably won't either.

Challenger will probably pull like a freight train on the top end though (as long as the auto isn't a piece of crap).

In a dig. From zero to 60 also. LOL. Challenger goes zero to 60 in 5.0 sec. Mustang V6 goes zero to 60 in 5.3 sec. So it would be close.

I'm still going for the 3.7 V6 mustang.... lol
Let us know who wins darkpony04!
BTW my base 2011 weight is 3302 lbs and I think R/T weight is what? 4080 lbs?
That would put power to weight ratio in the mustangs favor?

Wait wait wait a goddamn minute. Am I the only one wondering what a 18 year old is doing with a brand new Mustang? And what is a 17 year old doing with a Hemi Challenger?

God I feel old saying this but....Back in my day we had to work for our first rides and my car was older than me...
