AFR 205 or 220 heads on 393 SBF Windsor?
 

I am gonna run a strip only car and need help deciding which heads to use. It's a 393 Windsor in a 1987 mustang that weighs 2700 lbs / 2900 with me in it, a PA C4, 3.73 gears and a 28 x 10 x 15 tire. I sold my old AFR 205s with 72cc combustion chambers to go with a smaller combustion chamber since its not gonna be street driven much any more. I plan on going with the 58 cc on the new heads for more compression. I plan on shifting the car around 6,800 rpm and want to make as much power as possible on the motor before I spray 200 - 250 HP. I am currently running a .680 lift solid roller cam with 258/268 @ .050 and a 108 CL ( I know not the best nitrous cam, but good motor cam). So should I run the new Renegade 205 that out flows the old Outlaw 225 or run the new 220 Renegade? Or is there a better head out there for me in the same $2,000 price range? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

I think I'd use the 220cc heads considering that cam and the displacment of the engine.
I'm using a 210cc intake head (Vic Jr) on a 352 CID engine with a cam not a lot smaller than yours.
Work good I think.
BTW, I think you'll find you are gouing to need more gear in that car, 4.10 or maybe 4.30........

I have been leaning to the 220 heads just keep hearing they may be too big from others. I may go with a bigger stroker in the future and will need the heads then. Im gonna go with the Super Victor intake when i get the heads and ditch the Victor Jr. Funny you mention the rear gear because i have been thinking about going to a 4.10, just wasn't sure if i would need it on the bottle.

I'd go to a 4.30 as a fact.
Need to get the rolling no matter what.
Are you going to run 1/8th mile? Then 4.56 gears aren't out of the question.
You probably want to use at least a 4000 converter BTW........

Yes I will only be running 1/8 mile tracks. On the bottle is there a way to figure my 660 ft RPM with the different gears? I don't want to turn my motor past 7,000 RPM for longevity reasons, valve springs ect. Once i have my motor built and car set up with gears I plan on having a converter built. Thanks for the help!
