2002 GT weak on take off
I'm tuning up the Mustang. It seems to be lacking power on take off and doesn't run smooth. Not a dead miss though. It also seems to be idled high. You can audibly hear it's idled high and when I put it in gear it jumps. (automatic) Anyway when I get on the highway and open her up she runs great! I went to my nearest auto store to buy parts, I asked the guy what all I would need. He said the usual which I already know. Plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter. But I thought I would ask Mustang pros who know more than this guy (and me). Is there anything else I might do to fix this problem? It's my daughter's car and I REALLY want it running dependably and help fuel mileage. Thanks!

Hi, welcome. We are not PRO, but a lot of good info to use on this site. On the high idle, check all the vacuum lines for cracks /holes. Check EGR valve and the ICA,TPS. All of them are bolted to the throttle body. Both EGR,IAC you can try to clean out. If the car is a GT, you have coil on plug, so no wires. Everything Else seem OK. IMO i would try to stay with using stock OEM type parts. Also check tranny fluid. If needed change filter and fluids. Post how it worked, and more people will post back.Good luck
