Default Limp home mode/check engine light/loss in RPM & Gas Milage

Hi Forum, 2005 ford mustang v6 stock

The other day while I was driving withg AC on my car went into limp home mode. I turned the car off and it went away. Next day it happened agian without AC on. This time the check engien light came on as well as the limp home mode. Turned car off once more & it went away but I have had a drop in RPM 1000 down to just about 500 & gas milage seems lower. I've cleaned the throttle body and mass air flow sensor & Just changed the throttle position sensor after reading other posts on this website. RPm still sitting at 500/600. Any input would be great.

thanks

Normal RPMs at idle should be between 500 & 800 RPMs. So if your RPMs were at 1k before, then you had a preexisting condition making the idle run high.

As for the limp home mode & check engine light, the first thing you should do is get the codes that are triggering the CEL to come on. Most auto parts stores will get the codes for you. Make sure that you get the exact codes, not just the description. Then post up what codes you have and we can see if we can help. Without the codes we would all be guessing, wasting your time & money.

Good luck...
